Annual Ceremonial Review

Dear friends, parents, and cadets of 1 West Montreal Squadron,

You are warmly invited to attend our virtual year-end parade which will take place on Zoom on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at 14:00hrs.

We are delighted to welcome Honorary Colonel Colin Robinson of the Royal Montreal Regiment as our Reviewing Officer.

The cadets of 1 West have shown exceptional resilience by staying active in the squadron despite the limitations of a fully virtual training year. Many of them have been preparing entertaining videos and virtual presentations to share with you all during the parade.

Friends and family are all welcomed to join us, and we have added the ‘large meeting’ Zoom™ capacity so that all cadets, parents and guests can take part in the parade and turn on their cameras. We encourage the cadets in particular to take advantage of this and have their cameras on during the parade!

The virtual parade will last approximately 90 mins and will consist of the following elements:

• Opening March Past (music)

• Welcome to guests and parents

• Virtual cadet demos

• Presentations and Awards

• Musical interlude

• Information about summer activities

• Brief addresses from dignitaries

• National Anthem

• Closing remarks and March-off

The order of dress for cadets is C1A - Ceremonial Dress.

We have recently received several uniform shipments and will be arranging for uniforms to be delivered to as many cadets as possible in the coming days. For Flight Corporals and above, we will also be delivering brassards with your current rank badges for you to use in case your current uniform no longer fits. If cadets do not have a uniform, they should dress smartly, with a white or light-coloured dress shirt.

The order of dress for squadron staff and official guests is Ceremonial Dress 1A (medals) or civilian equivalent.

For family, friends, and any other guests who wish to join us, please feel free to wear whatever you would normally wear to a similar online event.

Summer 2021 Cadet Activity Program

The Cadet Activities Program is a week-long, in-person, locally-based day camp for cadets this summer. It will be Monday-Friday from 0800-1700. It will be located in an accessible location in downtown Montreal. This is a great opportunity to do fun, in-person activities, learn new skills that will help you advance in your cadet career, and meet new friends. Cadets will need to provide their own snacks and lunch. COVID guidelines will be strictly followed.

To register, please fill out the form below. It will take about 5 minutes to complete. Everyone of all ages and levels is encouraged to sign up. We have a lot of spots so hopefully everyone who wants to participate will be able to.

Squadron Leader H.P. Illsley Memorial Award

For the 1 West Montreal Annual Ceremonial Parade (ACR), we need your vote for the cadet deserving the Squadron Leader H.P. Illsley Memorial Award. This award is given to the most meritorious cadet voted by their peers to be most worthy of recognition. Please fill out this small survey so we can give it to the most deserving cadet!

Virtual Training

On May 26th level 1s and 2s will have an activity as a group in the general channel. The level 3s and 4s will meet in their respective level channel. As usual, we will begin the night with mini-flights.

Schedule:
18:45-19:00 Mini-flights in your mini-flight channel
19:00-20:05 Activity in the general channel for level 1s and 2s.
19:00-20:05 Training in the level channels for level 3s and 4s.
