Dear cadets, parents, and friends of 1 West,

Two excellent opportunities offered by the Air Cadet program are the Glider Pilot Training Course (GPTC) and Power Pilot Training Course (PPTC). The GPTC is a six-week summer course where cadets will earn their Glider Pilot’s License and wings. The PPTC is a seven-week to earn a Power Pilot’s License and wings. Both of these courses are offered to senior cadets for free!

Applicants are required to complete an online Ground School, exam, and interview as a part of the selection process. The deadline to sign up is October 6th.

Cadets applying for the GPTC must be 16 years old by 01 September 2022. They must also have completed Secondary 3 (grade 9).

Cadets applying for the PPTC must be 17 years old by 01 September 2022. They must have completed Secondary 4 (grade 10). They must be in at least level 4 now.

Weekly Training

This Wednesday, October 6th we will continue in-person training. Anyone entering the RMR must complete the COVID Self-assessment questionnaire prior to entering.

After validating attendance and COVID screening, cadets must proceed immediately to their designated training area:

• Level 1s – Parade Square

• Level 2s – Officer’s Mess

• Level 3s – Classrooms

• Level 4s – Sgt/WO Mess

• Level 5s – COs Conference Room

Dress is FTUs or proper civilian attire.

Important: Parents are not allowed to enter the RMR due to military COVID restrictions. Parents are encouraged to submit any questions that they have by email in advance and send ID document copies with their son/daughter.

Supply

Our supply team is hard at work taking measurements and distributing new uniforms. We are still subject to delivery delays from the uniform suppliers. Please be patient, we will clear the backlog of uniform exchanges and new issues as quickly as we can.
