Holiday Break

This will be our last week of activities before the Holiday break. We hope you have a fantastic and safe end of the year. Activities will resume on the 15th of January.

Squadron Change of Command Ceremony

This Wednesday, December 15th, will mark the Change of Command of 1 West Montreal Squadron from Major Thomas Leslie, CD to Capt Tarique Jones. We will also have a special visit from the Commanding Officer of cadets throughout Quebec and Eastern Ontario, and it is important to have as many cadets as possible attending. Can we count on you to be there this week?

The cadets will be able to watch in-person at the armoury, while parents and friends of the squadron are welcome to watch the ceremony’s live stream at https://fb.me/e/1hfyrCkUH starting at 8:00 pm.

Dress: C1A ceremonial dress blues if you have them, if not then the green Field Training Uniforms (FTUs). Otherwise smart-looking civilian clothing.

The training night will be from 18:30-21:00. As usual, cadets must immediately proceed to their designated area upon arrival:

• Level 1s – Parade Square

• Level 2s – Officer’s Mess

• Level 3s – Classrooms

• Level 4s – Sgt/WO’s Mess

• Level 5s – CO’s Conference Room

Anyone entering the RMR must be fully vaccinated and present their QC codes at the entrance of the building. They must complete the COVID Self-assessment questionnaire prior to entering.

Important: Parents are not allowed to enter the RMR due to military COVID restrictions. Parents are encouraged to submit any questions that they have by email to 1westmontreal@gmail.com.

1 West Virtual Talent Show

Do you want to enter a raffle for a chance to win free Squadron merchandise? The calendar year is coming to an end, and that means 1 West’s virtual talent show is fast approaching, and we need your cooperation! This talent show is your opportunity to share your talents with your fellow cadets, parents, and peers. Talents can range anywhere from musical ability, a baking session, to building a snowman!

Note that the event will be eventually shared on the Squadron’s Youtube channel, and we will have a movie night where you can watch the show with your fellow cadets and friends!

Sports Day Sign-up

The Squadron will be heading to the Ministry of Cricket & Other Homeless Sports for a sports day/cadet team-building event on December 18th. Cadets must bring their own snacks and water bottle. Spaces are limited so it will be first-come, first-served!

We will be departing the RMR at 08:30 and returning by 13:30 on Saturday, December 18th.

Dress code: a clean change of running shoes (no outdoor shoes or cleats on field) and leggings or track pants for players (not shorts).

All participants aged 13+ will need to show proof of double vaccination via a QR code, by the app or on paper, and these are scanned on entry.

Ground School

The squadron’s weekly ground school training sessions will continue on Thursday, December 16th, from 19:00-21:00.
