Virtual Mess Dinner

Thank you for ordering your meal and we look forward to dining with you on Wednesday, March 17th. Please heat your meals at 18:15 (can be later if you are using the microwave) so that you can be seated and join online by 18:45. We will be hosting through Zoom; to connect use the button below! If your family members have ordered dinners, they are welcome to join us during the Mess Dinner as well.

A mess dinner is a formal occasion, and so you should arrange your computer or device so that you can eat from your dining room or kitchen table, if possible. Examples of how to arrange your dishes, glasses, and silverware are available online.

During the dinner we will have traditional toasts where we will raise a glass together; if you are able, please have some grape juice or apple juice in a wine glass to use for the toasts. Otherwise, just water in a glass or cup will be perfectly fine as well.

If you have a uniform, please wear it, including your tunic. An optional enhancement is to wear a white dress shirt and black bowtie with your cadet tunic. If you do not have a uniform, please do your best to dress smartly, ideally with a dress shirt and tie.

We will discuss the elements of military history, camaraderie, tradition, and community associated with Mess Dinners. Feel free to do further research online and be ready to share your findings with the squadron on Wednesday.

Boxed Dinner Heating Instructions
Notes:

Refrigerate all items until you are ready to reheat.
Black plastic containers are oven-safe and microwave-safe.
Warming times may vary depending on the oven (please allow for a little extra time as needed).

Main Courses

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Poke holes in plastic film wrap to allow steam to escape.
Place the black container on a flat baking sheet if heating in the oven.
Heat in the oven at 350°F for 15-25 minutes covered, or until everything is warmed through.

OR Microwave on high for 3 minutes, then in additional 1-minute intervals until everything is warmed through.
Remove plastic wrap and serve hot.

Dessert

Poke holes in plastic film wrap to allow steam to escape.
Place the black container on a flat baking sheet if heating in the oven.
Heat in the oven at 350°F for 3-5 minutes covered, or until warmed through.

OR Microwave on high for 1 minute, then an additional 30 seconds intervals until everything is warmed through.
Remove plastic wrap and serve hot.

We have started a Minecraft server for us all to connect virtually during these times! We are currently working on rebuilding the Royal Montreal Regiment (RMR) as well as the monuments that surround it. If you want to contribute to rebuilding our home, send a private message on Teams to WO1 Gong so we can give you the appropriate permissions!
